The buzzword for 2022 is sustainability… due to the climate change emergency that was declared by many governments and organisations in 2021, businesses and individuals have been keen to make positive changes to help lower carbon emissions.
Whilst big changes are required by big corps to assist in turning climate change around, there are small things we can do every day in business to help. Every little helps!
So what can you do?
Go Paperless
If you haven’t already – go paperless this year. From bank statements to client invoices, through to opting to have emails instead of letters… it is a huge help in reducing the amount of paper being used every year.
Improve your Procurement Practices
Endeavour to only buy from sustainable sources where possible. Pick companies that use recyclable packaging and do your research before you buy!
Incentivise low carbon travel
Implement a cycle to work scheme, grants for electric vehicles or a scheme where you can take on some of the cost of public transport for staff members.
Reduce energy usage
Buy energy-saving lightbulbs, opt for motion detector lighting so that communal areas are only lit when someone is using them, ban single-use plastics, encourage thorough recycling.
These are just some ideas that you can implement into your business to help reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier and more eco-friendly way of working.
Positive changes like these can easily become part of your day to day life, becoming an easy to follow habit.
