Self-employment is rarely the easy option. Although people often focus in on the benefits (more flexibility and more control) the truth is that it takes time, commitment, resilience and a proactive mindset to really make it work.
In short, it’s not for everyone.
But while your average nine-to-fiver might not really ‘get’ it, there’s fortunately a whole community out there who understand and empathise.
So, in celebration of that community and the heroic resilience of freelancers in almost any situation here are 10 tweets that every freelancer/small business owner will probably be able to relate to in one way or another…
#10 – It’s a journey…
A year ago, I started “spontaneously” my freelance journey. I had to figure out lots of stuff on the fly, deal with tons of uncertainty, develop some skills I wasn’t sure if I had. It was the most demanding year in my professional life, but also the most rewarding. #freelancelife

#9 – You’re forever blessed with Monday morning gratitude
Nearly six years of being #freelance and still not a single Monday morning goes by without feelings of intense gratitude that I’m not having to begin yet another week of drudgery as an office-based wage slave ??

Me: I'm a freelancer.
Them: Ah, cool. So what is it you do as a freelancer?
Me: Emailing, phone calls, Skype calls, finances, proposals, house work, errands… all sorts.
Them: What do you do as your profession, though?
Me: Oh. Copywriting. But that's a small part of my day.

Me: Well then.
